SEASONAL ART EXCHANGES
Hello and welcome to the website for the Seasonal Art Exchanges! Four times a year we host Secret Santa-style art exchanges during each season - spring, summer, autumn, and winter. We allow people to draw their own gift or commission someone else to draw it for them so that artists, writers, and hobbyists alike can all participate!

Guidelines
There are two separate events with their own guidelines. You may enter to participate in one or both events. It's important that you understand the differences in the guidelines for both events. If you submit a piece that does not match these guidelines you may be asked to make edits.
If you are ever unsure if your piece meets the guidelines, ask your team's moderator!
Commissioners: Commission a piece that fits these guidelines. If you're unsure about your choice of artist or the type of commission, ask your team's moderator to double check.
Classic Event
The original seasonal illustration event. Waist-up to full body artwork with a background is expected.
Not allowed:
Headshots, busts, or chibis
Black and white artwork
Flat colored artwork
White/solid color backgrounds
Sketches
NSFW, gore
Small pixel artwork*
* Pixel artwork is allowed if it is an illustration
Mini Event
The Classic Event, but chibi-fied! Full body chibi illustrations are expected.
Take note of these new guidelines!
Not allowed:
Headshot or bust chibis
Black and white artwork
White/solid color backgrounds*
Sketches
NSFW, gore
* Backgrounds should contain at least some sort of pattern or additional props. As long as some effort is put in, you should be fine - ask a mod if you are unsure! Remember, the Mini Event is now considered a chibi version of the Classic, so a blank background is not allowed for that reason.

Rules
✦ Do not reveal who you have been assigned to! It's supposed to be a surprise, after all.
✦ Don't post anything relating to your artwork for the exchange before the event is over - no WIPs, no sneak peeks. You may share with close friends but please use discretion.
✦ When requesting artists not to be paired with, please do not abuse this option. It's a courtesy meant to make the exchange comfortable for everyone, not a way for you to refuse to get art from people whose art you might not think is "good enough".
✦ If you are late to turn in your piece without giving prior warning, you will be suspended from the next exchange. You may join the exchange after the suspension period is over. For example, if you fail to turn in your piece on time and did not warn the mods during Autumn, you will not be able to participate in Winter, but you will be allowed to participate in Spring.
✦ You must take the time to read all documentation, rules, and gift documents thoroughly. If you make a mistake with your submission, you will be responsible for fixing it.
✦ Please try to thank your partner/s after the exchange for their hard work!
✦ Be kind! Keep things respectful within the discord.
✦ No drama.
Gift requests
There are some guidelines that you need to keep in mind when filling out the form for your gift request, such as what you may/may not request, how much information you should provide, and how the gift documents work. Please make sure to be familiar with these guidelines.
✦ You must provide at least 2 different options.
✦ If requesting couple art, you must also include at least one single-character option.
✦ If requesting furry characters, you must also include at least one non-furry option.
✦ If requesting fanart, you must include at least one non-fandom option.
✦ The more detail, the better. Try to give your partner plenty to work with.
✦ You may not request NSFW or gore. If you aren't sure, ask a mod.
✦ No NSFW references. If your best reference is NSFW, please censor it for the event.
✦ Make sure your characters are viewable. Not everyone in the event has a TH account.
✦ Don't request characters you plan to trade away. If you do this anyway and get art of a character you traded during the exchange, it's on you!
✦ Clearly specify which characters belong to you when it comes to couple art if you are requesting couple art and one of the characters does not belong to you.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to follow a seasonal theme?
No! Although we provide seasonal prompts, your gift request/the piece you submit do not have to be seasonal. For example, if you are participating in the Autumn Exchange but you do not want your characters drawn in Halloween themes, you can specify that in your gift document.
Can I request fanart?
You can, but you must include at least one original character in your gift request in case you are paired with someone who does not want to draw fanart (although we will do our best to match you to someone who does!).
Can I request furries?
You can, but you must include at least one original humanoid/kemonomimi in your gift request in case you are paired with someone who does not want to draw furries (although we will do our best to match you to someone who does!).
Do I have to join the Discord server?
Yes, unless you have spoken to a mod who has told you otherwise. You don't need to chat, but it helps us keep track of all the participants and send out important notices.
